For the first time ever, the National Civics Bee® is coming to Louisiana — and it’s happening right here in Shreveport!
Join us for an inspiring, high-energy celebration as outstanding middle school students from across our region take the stage to showcase their ideas, civic knowledge, and passion for strengthening their communities.
This is more than a competition. It’s a celebration of student leadership, literacy, confidence, and the future of our region.
What Is the National Civics Bee®?
The National Civics Bee® is a nationwide, nonpartisan competition created by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to encourage middle school students (grades 6–8) to:

Think critically about real-world challenges

Explore civic responsibility and community engagement

Propose thoughtful solutions

Strengthen literacy, research, and communication skills
Students begin by submitting a four-paragraph essay addressing a community issue. Top finalists advance to this live Regional Competition, where they will compete in engaging quiz rounds for the opportunity to move on to the Louisiana State Civics Bee.
