J. Pat Beaird Industry of the Year Award Luncheon
This annual celebration, sponsored by the J. Pat Beaird Memorial Fund, recognizes a corporate entity from the Greater Shreveport area for their outstanding business achievements and offers the opportunity for the Chamber to bring nationally-recognized speakers to our area.
Past notable speakers include Commander Kirk Lippold, USN (Ret.) who was the commanding officer of the USS Cole when it came under a suicide terrorist attack in the port of Aden, Yemen on Oct 12, 2000; Marcus Luttrell, former Navy SEAL who was the only survivor of a mission in Afghanistan in 2005 and author of “Lone Survivor”; Spencer Stone, former USAF Staff Sgt, who along with two childhood friends, thwarted a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train in August 2015. Keni Thomas, Black Hawk Down; Col Greg Gadson, Decorated Army Commander; Special Agent Stephen Murphy; Brendan McDonough, Lone Survivor of the Yarnell Hill Fire.
The criteria for the award are the same as those Pat Beaird himself sought to promote: real dollar expansion, community involvement, and the creation of new jobs. Businesses qualifying for the award must also represent an industry that employs a large personnel.
